Did you know that substance use disorder can lead to various mental health disorders and vice versa? Substance use disorder is a growing problem. Oftentimes, individuals abuse drugs to cope with distressing mental and emotional conditions.
Our outpatient program is intended to prevent or reduce substance use disorders (i.e., misuse of prescription medication, underage drinking, or illegal drug use). BHCCBS provides the foundation and necessary tools to prevent and reduce the usage.
Our workshops enable individuals to engage in various activities offered by BHCCBS while learning valuable life lessons.
To help individuals enhance their quality of life and reduce/sustain recovery from substance use, we utilize a person-centered approach through our various therapeutic modalities (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing). Our program components include, but are not limited to, anger management, coping skills, recognizing your triggers, and developing a positive support system.
BHCCBS’s Drug Educational/Early Intervention Workshop is an instructional program designed for individuals who struggle with substance use. This direct and interactive instructional program is offered to educate and develop individuals on decision-making skills. This workshop is intended to prevent and reduce substance abuse. This workshop provides individuals with the education and tools to help resist risky behaviors. Our program consists of first-time violators and reoffenders of drug and alcohol use.
BHCCBS’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a specialized support recovery program designed to treat substance abuse. Our intensive level of care program parallels the 12-step concept. We focus on relapse prevention, education, stress management, coping, and life skills. Our 12-week program meets 4 days a week. Individuals are required to participate in 3 groups (3-hour sessions, per group) and 1 individual session (1 hour). Our program provides many of the same services as an inpatient program.
Our Supportive Outpatient Programs (SOP) is geared toward individuals who may not qualify or who have graduated from intensive outpatient services. These individuals have started the addiction and recovery process. This program is 10 weeks and meets 2 days weekly. Individuals are required to participate in one group (3-hour sessions) and one individual session (1 hour). SOP focuses on relapse prevention, life skills, and re-integration to normal life.
