What is addiction? Addiction, also known as a substance use disorder, is treatable. Addiction is a disease that impacts an individual’s brain and results in the inability to control the use of legal or illegal drugs.
Often, individuals who abuse drugs have underlying issues (i.e., mental health or childhood trauma) that are unresolved. Individuals usually lack the necessary coping skills to manage their emotions effectively. Having a substance use disorder can lead to harmful behaviors and disastrous results. It’s never too late to ask for help. Recovery from addiction isn’t easy. Substance use disorders can lead to family, career, and relationship problems if untreated. ***Substance Abuse Evaluation***
What sets us apart from other agencies is our thorough, personalized approach.
The Drug and Alcohol Educational Program provides two key assessment tools: the Substance Abuse Life Circumstance Evaluation (SALCE) and the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI-3). The SASSI-3 is a psychological questionnaire used to identify individuals at risk of substance dependence and abuse. The SALCE report delivers assessment data applicable to many decision-making scenarios. It offers specific indicators for quick referral decisions to treatment or education, along with detailed information that supports conducting personal interviews.
After finishing the SASSI, we meet with the client to review the results and collect detailed information about their substance use history.
Our aim is to suggest the best treatment option based on the evaluation results.
In many cases, treatment is not advised if the client lacks a relevant history of substance abuse.
We carefully evaluate each client’s individual needs. Our substance use assessments are done online through Zoom and include two components.
After the client books and pays for the appointment, we send them the SASSI assessment, which is mandatory for all evaluations.
This assessment is designed to help determine if someone needs substance use treatment. If a client finds that they require an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or Supportive Outpatient Program (SOP) and decides to join us, we’re happy to let them know that the evaluation fee will be deducted from the overall cost of their treatment.
After registration, you'll receive an email within 24-48 hours from SASSI Online containing a link to complete the SASSI-4 on your computer. If you don't see the email, check your spam or junk folder.
Cost $65 (For Evaluation Only)
**IOP-Intensive Outpatient**
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers a well-structured treatment option tailored for individuals who need more support than typical outpatient care. It's especially beneficial for those with a moderate to severe history of substance use, frequent legal issues related to alcohol or drugs, or a high risk of relapse. IOP provides a nurturing environment where clients receive intensive support and clinical help, all while maintaining their work, family, and community commitments.
This program is designed to support your long-term recovery journey. It offers a warm mix of group counseling, individual sessions, and educational resources about substance use. Our main goals are to help you achieve lasting sobriety, work through the underlying issues that may contribute to substance use and develop helpful coping strategies. We also focus on encouraging personal responsibility and positive behavioral change. The full program fee is
$450, which can be paid in convenient installments.
Meets twice a week for 3 hours for a minimum of 6 weeks.

**SOP-Supportive Outpatient **
Our 90-day SOP program is thoughtfully designed for individuals who need to complete court-ordered sessions, providing a supportive and structured path forward.
The Supportive Outpatient Program (SOP) offers a structured, evidence-based approach designed. This is often provided to individuals involved in legal issues related to offenses like DWI, drug possession, or public intoxication.
SOP creates a welcoming and supportive environment where clients are encouraged to actively pursue sobriety while fulfilling obligations. The program emphasizes essential lessons about how substance use affects lives, offers effective strategies to avoid relapse, and provides practical coping skills for everyday use. Clients are kindly supported in building personal responsibility and decision-making abilities, which help promote lasting positive change and decrease the likelihood of future legal troubles.
Our program warmly welcomes clients who are assessed with low to moderate substance use severity. SOP offers a caring alternative to inpatient or intensive outpatient (IOP) care. Clients are encouraged to join friendly weekly group counseling sessions, where they learn about substance use, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and how to identify personal risk factors. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support clients in managing triggers, staying sober, and applying recovery skills in everyday life, all while continuing their work, school, or family commitments.
Our program is 90 days, with one session per week for 12 weeks (meets Harris County’s 90-day requirement).
You must attend all 12 sessions to earn a Certificate of Completion
*** Once completed, you will get a certificate of completion at no extra charge. ***

***Substance Abuse Program (SAP)***
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program we offer aims to promote safety and adhere to federal regulations. It provides support for drivers facing challenges related to substance use.
Our Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program assesses employees who have breached a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and provides recommendations for education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
The SAP process encompasses several key steps:
· Initial Evaluation – A substance abuse professional, qualified under the Department of Transportation regulations, conducts an interview to ascertain the existence of a substance use issue.
· Recommended Treatment Plan – Based on the evaluation conducted, the SAP recommends suitable educational or treatment programs.
· Compliance Monitoring – The employee successfully finishes the suggested program and follows through on any necessary actions.
· Final Assessment – A subsequent evaluation confirms that all criteria are satisfied prior to the employee's approval for the Return to Duty test.
· Return-to-Duty Test – A negative drug or alcohol test is required prior to resuming safety-sensitive duties.
· Follow-Up Testing – Employees may be required to undergo ongoing, unannounced follow-up tests for up to five years after returning.
The length of a DOT SAP evaluation can fluctuate based on several factors, such as the complexity of the case and appointment availability. Generally, the initial assessment lasts between one and two hours.
Typically, DOT SAP evaluations are not covered by insurance. Nonetheless, certain employers might provide coverage or reimbursement for these services. It's important to consult your employer or insurance provider for specific information.
In a DOT SAP evaluation, you will consult with a certified Substance Abuse Professional who will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your substance use history, work situation, and additional pertinent factors.
Following this assessment, the SAP will provide recommendations about your eligibility to resume safety-sensitive roles.
If an individual receives a positive drug test result while occupying a safety-sensitive position regulated by the Department of Transportation, it is imperative that they undergo a DOT SAP evaluation as a component of the return-to-duty process.
Typically, you have the option to select your SAP provider for the evaluation. Nonetheless, it is crucial to verify that the provider you choose is both qualified and experienced in administering DOT SAP evaluations.

*** At-Risk Youth Workshop ***
If your child is experiencing any of these challenges, they might be at risk. Remember, you're not alone, and support is available to help them get through this.
BHCCBS offers support to youth who might be at risk of delinquency through our prevention and educational workshop. Our diversion workshop is designed to be a helpful and engaging space, filled with useful information to promote de-escalation and provide guidance for young people in these situations.
Our at-risk workshop was thoughtfully designed to support the goal of reducing juvenile detention and incarceration. Our approach encourages personal accountability and fosters positive results, aiming to make a meaningful difference.
Children who are considered "at-risk” often find it harder to handle the stress in their lives. The challenges they face can sometimes overwhelm them mentally. They might engage in certain behaviors either to seek attention or to achieve their desires, and these actions can impact not just themselves but those around them too.
For some children, feelings related to anxiety and depression can sometimes lead to reckless behaviors. In more severe cases, families may find themselves in difficult situations where the child has explosive episodes or becomes a danger to themselves or others.
If you think your child might be in danger, it's really important to act now to protect them before it's too late.
A timely intervention with supportive adults and peers can make all the difference for at-risk youth. If you wait too long, the challenges your teenager faces might become even more difficult, potentially impacting their future in deeply lasting ways.
